After almost five year of “silence” or some kind of “hiatus”, Utopium are back to the business this spring with a new self-titled album to come out in the next weeks on CD & digital formats. A first song “Stardust” shot last year as an official music video is available on YouTube. More extracts are coming very soon…

Utopium is an international four-piece indie-rock/post-rock/experimental band based in Paris and Toronto. It was founded in the end of the nineties, with members coming from Russia, Mexico and France.Their debut EP recorded in London in 2000 was acclaimed by French media as one of the most promising rock acts of the year. After their second EP and several years of concerting, Utopium released their first full-length album called “No Memory Man” where post-rock influences become more apparent, although the frequent use of ‘wall of sound’ also suggests comparisons with the ‘shoegazing’ scene.

In spring 2008 the band went to Toronto to record their second full-length named “Doubleplusgood” and released through the Dutch label ‘Planet of Sounds’ in February 2009. In the meantime, the band toured extensively in France, Europe, and Asia. After a hiatus of several years, Utopium return with a new self-titled album that will be out on April 25th 2014 in digital format. The vinyl version is scheduled to be released next autumn.
